Poker is a popular activity that can be played with any number of players. The ideal number is six to eight. Players may play a number of betting rounds during the game, but the final showdown is between the player with the best poker hand.
Before the cards are dealt, one player is designated the dealer. The dealer will shuffle the deck and then deal one card face-up to each player. Generally, the player who makes the first bet is responsible for the whole deal.
Once the first bet is made, the next player has the opportunity to make a raise or check.
